Briony Haig Artist Bio
Winnipeg artist Briony Haig works in figurative and bas-relief sculpture, painting and animation. She studied art at the University of Manitoba School of Art from 1993-97.
Haig has participated in twenty Mentoring Artists for Womens' Art (MAWA) group exhibitions, including Artist Mothers, Artist Teachers, and Members shows. She showed at the Winnipeg Art Gallery “Breaking the Silence on Domestic Violence” exhibition in November 2018. She has been interviewed about her work for the Winnipeg Herald and Winnipeg City News. "Breaking the Silence on Domestic Violence" was shown at the Mennonite Heritage Gallery in Winnipeg from November 19, 2021 to January 15, 2022.
Haig is a passionate feminist. Her latest series of oil paintings, The Protest, records the protests that she or her family have participated in – these range from anti-fascist to anti-poverty. Haig is showed The Protest at the Prairie Fusion Gallery in Portage la Prairie from February 22 to April 2, 2022. She is showing Protest at the Mennonite Heritage Gallery in Winnipeg from January 20- March 4, 2023.
